The spread of Covid-19 has hit hard especially in tourism industry since there were no travellers. With borders closed and travel restrictions everywhere,

popular tourist spots saw a huge drop in visitors.

According to The Travel & Tourism Decelopment Index 2024, Malaysia secures the 3rd spot in Southeast Asia with a score of 4.28. Thailand follows closely in 4th place with a score of 4.12, and Vietnam ranks 5th (59th globally( with a score of 3.96. Globally, the United States is in the lead with a score of 5.24. While in Southeast Asia, Singapore is at the top, putting them in 13th place. It’s worth noting that Indonesia has moved up 10 spots to rank 22nd in this year’s index.Developed by the World Economic Forum, the TTDI evaluates 119 economies based on critical factors for sustainable growth in the travel and tourism sector, including sustainability, infrastructure, and recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.
