Construction signs are posted at the intersection of Redland Road and Rifle Range Road warning commuters of the road closure.ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. -
Starting Tuesday, and for the next six weeks, Rifle Range Road will remain closed to through traffic while crews replace a culvert about a quarter-mile from the Dozier Road intersection. Signage has warned commuters for several weeks that the road closure would start on June 11. Now, signs are posted at both the intersection with Redland Road and near the intersection with Dozier Road confirming the road is closed ahead.
Commuters will not be permitted to pass through the area during construction, but there are several detour options. Those include use of the nearby toll road, as well as the commute from Dozier Road to Redland Road. The culvert project is being funded by money from the American Rescue Plan through the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. The goal is to reduce the frequency of flooding in the area.
