KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew has dispelled accusations that the sudden removal of Sabah Tourism Board (STB) general manager Suzaini Sabdin Ghani was politically motivated.

The Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister also dismissed allegations that she was involved in Suzaini's removal, which she said was solely the decision of STB's board of directors .

"Anyway, this is is STB's internal affair. It's their BoD's decision and I respect that," Liew told reporters after launching the Komuniti Sejahtera KEMAS programme at SK Sacred Heart here on Saturday . Her successor has been identified as Noredah Othman, who was previously STB deputy general manager with 29 years of experience in the industry.

"How would you like it if every time the BoD wants to make a decision about something, I intervene? I don't think I will do that."My only concern was whether they had a suitable candidate for the job. When they told me the acting general manager has served 29 years in the industry and is a Muslim bumiputra, I just accepted it," she added.
