Another 283 more are wounded after the Easter Sunday bombings, which occurred about 8.45am local time, according to Sri Lanka's hospital spokesman.
Dr Samindi Samarakoon says the nearly 300 wounded have been admitted to the capital Colombo's main hospital. The death toll is expected to rise.Sri Lankan firefighters stand in the area around St. Anthony's Shrine. A security official said he suspects the blasts at two churches were carried out by suicide bombers. The official spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak with reporters.
One church, St. Anthony's Shrine, and the three hotels are in Colombo and are frequented by foreign tourists. The other two churches are in Negombo, a Catholic majority town north of Colombo, and the eastern town of Batticaloa. Witness Alex Agileson who was in the vicinity of St Anthony's Shrine says buildings in the surrounding area shook with the blast.
News getting from Colombo says the numbers will be up north of 100 killed and more than 400 injured..
Sadly this will be forgotten about by the media in coming days. Christianity is under attack across the world and nothing is getting done about it. Can't call out certain unnamed groups because there is a potential to incite violence against them.
