The outgoing Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste has said tourism chiefs “need to do more” to promote Dublin ahead of Taylor Swift’s concerts.
“And yeah, maybe we do need to do more because everyone who is coming into the city, they are booking hotel rooms, they are spending money in our pubs, our bars and our restaurants and if we can bring that together and harness that a little bit more, well then that is obviously only good for the city.”
It comes after London Lord Mayor Sadiq Khan – and a self-confessed Swiftie – shared a major new guide on visitlondon.com, suggesting “themed events and activities to participate in during your stay” to see the Grammy award winning star, which showcases some of “Taylor’s favourite hotspots”. Mr Khan also paid a visit to the Taylor Swift mural at Wembley Stadium, saying: “London is ready for it. Our capital will host more nights of Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour than any other city.” The US star will perform three gigs at London's Wembley Stadium this Friday, Saturday and Sunday - before returning to the venue in August for a further five dates.
