All flights from two Manchester Airport terminals cancelled after power cut

All flights departing from Terminals 1 and 2 have been cancelled 'until further notice', as Claire Hannah reports

Managing Director of Manchester Airport Chris Woodroofe said officials had established that a power cable failure caused the outage but officials are uncertain as to why it failed."At this stage we don't know what caused the cable to fail, we're going to be looking into the root cause of that next week," Mr Woodroofe said.

One Singapore Airlines flight arriving from Houston in Texas had to go to London Heathrow while another, which came in from Singapore, was forced to land at London Gatwick. A Virgin Atlantic spokesperson said: “Following a site-wide power outage at Manchester Airport, baggage systems are currently not operational.
