PETALING JAYA: The suspect in the recent bomb threat at the tourism, arts and culture ministry was an imposter, Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said today.

He said police had confirmed that the person the suspect impersonated was not on the premises at that time.“The person who came to deliver the parcel was impersonating someone else. That person does exist, but he was not present .

The ministry was evacuated on June 5 after receiving what was suspected to be an explosive device addressed to tourism, arts and culture minister Tiong King Sing.Putrajaya police chief Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the supposed bomb – received at 11.19am and sent using a delivery service from Sungai Buloh – was a fake, consisting of a PVC pipe and timer made up to resemble an explosive device.
