Millions of people from the UK visit Croatia each year

The European nation has become more and more popular with tourists in recent years, with many taking holidays in places like Split and Dubrovnik.

Following Brexit, all travellers must adhere to the Schengen area passport rules in order to travel to Croatia. Your passport's expiry date must be at least three months after the day you intend to depart and its date of issue must be less than ten years before the date of arrival in order for you to enter Croatia, as well as all other Schengen countries.

As well as this, there are now new rules in place for anyone planning to go on to Slovenia from Croatia. A new Foreign Office alert issued on Thursday reads: "There are checks at Slovenia’s borders with Croatia." Additional guidance adds: "If you are travelling from Croatia ... only enter Slovenia at border crossings open to all passengers. Allow extra time for crossing Slovenia’s land borders and be ready to show your passport or residency card.According to the Slovenian government, the border controls were "reintroduced due to the increased terrorist threat in order to ensure a high level of security for all residents". The checks will remain in force until December 21, 2024.
