The illicit mining task team continue to pounce on criminals. This became evident when the team in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District followed-up on information received and ultimately arrested six suspects who were caught red-handed on a farm in Stilfontein, on Thursday morning, 27 June 2024. According to reports, the accused were allegedly caught stealing diesel from two construction vehicles as well as a light delivery vehicle. During the arrest, the police seized 20 drums, containing a total of 500 litres of diesel.
Lindelwa Nkwanyane , Simiso Ngcomphalala , John Rasereka , Amos Novela , Piet Leeu and Olebogeng Sejako appeared before the Stilfontein Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 28 June 2024, on a charge of theft. They were remanded in custody until their second court appearance on Friday, 05 July 2024.
