Mount Buller,100 Years Of Skiing Mount Buller,Ski Club Of Victoria

This weekend marks 100 years since seven skiers hiked up Mount Buller. It was the beginning of one of Australia's most popular snow destinations.

When seven skiers made the trek up Mount Buller over a weekend in 1924, little did they know they were pioneering what would become one of the country's most popular snow destinations.

"They came up with some local guides from Mansfield … camped at a local cattleman's hut and then walked up the summit and had some turns," she said.A century later, SCV has more than 1,600 members, and this weekend it celebrates 100 years of skiing on the mountain. His father, Edwin G Adamson, joined the ski club in 1926 and was a well-known photographer and champion skier.

"I had a lot of fun at the SCV as a young member. I met some really good friends here, and it is fantastic to see the club celebrating 100 years since its formation."Within three days he found himself on Mount Buller. Buller Ski Lifts general manager Noel Landry said celebrating 100 years of skiing on the mountain was a huge achievement.
