'I stayed at one of UK's worst hotels - this is what I got for £42'

The Inglewood Hotel in Torquay, Devon, has been the subject of some of the most brutal Tripadvisor critiques, with guests encountering a stained mattress, broken windows, and an unwelcome long black hair in one of the beds, all for the low price of £42 per night.

He also noted that the hotel's 5/10 rating on Booking.com, based on over 300 reviews, suggested significant issues: "For a place to have five out of 10, with over 300 reviews the place has to be doing something quite wrong." The online advert for the hotel promises "a pool and an on-site restaurant", yet travellers recount that the pool seems to have been out of action for a while and the restaurant had inflexible meal times.
