The Trump administration on Tuesday imposed major new travel restrictions on visits to Cuba by U.S. citizens, including a ban on many forms of educational and recreational travel.
Treasury said it would also deny permission for private and corporate aircraft and boats. However, commercial airline flights appear to be unaffected and travel for university groups, academic research, journalism and professional meetings will continue to be allowed. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the measures are a response to what it calls Cuba's"destabilizing role" in the Western Hemisphere, including support for the government of President Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.
I was lucky enough to travel to Cuba twice in the past year. 1. an education trip with my 14yr old son who had the opportunity to play baseball with Cuban teams. 2. on a cruise. Cuba is beautiful w/ incredibly kind, generous people. This is a short sighted, awful decision.
This is a ridiculous move made under completely bogus pretenses. We should be helping Cuba to modernize its economy, and make reparations for the decades long blockade, not restricting travel beyond what it was even before Obama.

Every standard we apply to Cuba or Venezuela that we do not also apply to China and Saudi Arabia is obviously embarrassingly hypocritical.

It almost seems this administration understands the clock is ticking, so they are trying to sabotage as much of what Obama accomplished as possible. The saddest part of all this is the damage done to the reputation and world standing of the nation.
They have no coherent foreign policy each one if these steps had to do with something one of these old guys remember from their youth! Next week they’ll go after _________ you fill in the blank. That’s what this admin does!

My friend and her family were able to return to Cuba and see where her parents had come from and where her grandparents had lived their lives in Havana. This new policy is nothing more than spite for Obama's. Can't wait until Trump is out of the WH. He's horrible.
