Tons of algae wash up on the shores of Cancún and other resorts, plaguing the country’s vital tourism industryPUERTO MORELOS, Mexico—Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula is famous for its aquamarine waters, white sandy beaches and Mayan ruins. But it is fast gaining a reputation as a destination for something far less appealing: rotting seaweed known as sargassum.
For several years, growing amounts of the thick macroalgae have washed up on the shores of resorts including Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, turning water brown, blanketing beaches and releasing a pungent smell as it decays in the sun.
because for years sewage from these resorts went direct in the ocean, Mekiko neglected to invest building treatment plants. I would never choose a resort vacation in these 3rd world countries, because they are all the same, it's also a health hazard. it's gross to think about it.
The changes in climate influence in some creatures in differents ways
beyond of course the usual drug cartel violence
In addition you are being told at the hotel reception not to leave the resort compound after dark, ola, ola, Viva Mekiko
Sad:(
dont blame climate Algae sargassum flourishes as they discharge raw sewer to d sea They need to build water treatment n stop fertilizer runoff
'What's brown, rotten, and smelly '... I expected an article about poop in San Francisco...lol
welcome to the latest version of planet earth
Si.
This is a problem because a person has already criticized me by saying that the museums of Mexico City were more important than the wonderful tourism industry in Cancun and Acapulco. I hope that the natural experts will get quick solutions because of the many jobs in question.
you folks will be educated one way or the other
Fix it please
