They told us that our grading was wrong and that we should not be a Grade 5 municipality but a Grade 6 instead. So, they aligned their salaries to that of a Grade 6 municipality even though it is still a Grade 5 municipality by law,” he said.
Madikizela-Vuso said the council had a turnaround strategy in place that involved reviewing staff numbers, not paying performance bonuses and having a moratorium on filling vacant positions. “The premier’s interest is to see stability in the municipality. The priority is to see the municipality serving the people of Amathole,” he said.

Yho this guy has no shame at his age to stay in a hotel with such a huge salary. He can find a place for R5000 a month in East London fully furnished than to pay more than 40k a month.
This is but one example of a big corruption and entitlement scam. Why are there not a nationally elected data basis of hospitality providers at stipulated prices? If the tax payer pays we cannot allow these best-of-the-best accommodation, food and beverages.
