Iran has acknowledged for the first time that it is holding three Australian nationals on suspicion of spying.

The Foreign Minister's office has told Sky News it is working to verify if the report is true.

Australian travel bloggers Jolie King and Mark Firkin were arrested several months ago and middle-east politics expert from the University of Melbourne Kylie Moore-Gilbert was detained more than a year ago.
