MELAKA: Melaka’s hotelier association alleges that “illicit” hotels are causing a big blow to the local hospitality industry.

Malaysia Association of Hotels Melaka Chapter’s honorary secretary Jason Bak said illegal hotels are more rampant here and needed to be regulated.

“There must be something done to safeguard the legal ones, ” he said after holding a lunch session with Star Media Group CEO Andreas Vogiatzakis and his team at the Ramada Plaza Hotel here on Wednesday . The lunch was also attended by Melaka Tourism Club vice-president Dennis Samford, Mahkota Hotel manager Jeffrey Tan and Kings Hotel manager Khairulnizam Kasim.

“We need the support from the media, especially from the English segment to reach the international market, ” he said.
