The juxtaposition of the picturesque scenes compared to the terrifying footage of people fleeing to beaches to escape the inferno has prompted criticism about the ad's unfortunate timing.

It features cameos of cricketer Shane Warne, Olympic medallist Ian Thorpe, Tennis player Ash Barty and comedian Adam Hills, in idyllic coastal and central Australia locations, which are unaffected by the bushfires.

In an interview conducted before the ad's launch, Cope agreed the timing of the campaign was "difficult" but said it was designed to leave a long-term impression of Australia in the hearts and minds of the British. On Friday, Tourism Australia issued a statement saying most tourism areas and operators remained unaffected by the fires.

The ad was released by people who did not appreciate that we were in the midst of a national crisis. AustraliaBurns

The ClimateHysteria campaign the the ABC, SBS and the ultra left journalists owned by opportunist rich investors in dodgy renewable techs are actually ruining the Tourism season. Is that what they are doing? Boycotting the economy?

The timing of this ad was very unfortunate

aconvict The Australian landscape is like a domestic violence victim. Abused, marched out to pretend everything is fine, exploited again & again, dismissed, struggling to recover. Liberal's climate denial fires are the latest defilements. Shouldnt have to be said - Care for your home.

If it is unfortunate, then it doesn't warrant criticism. It would if it were deliberate or ignorant.

The fires unfortunate timing.

This why I don’t read the Age

...the left will always criticise, that’s all they can do.

Do you think the ad should hv gone for the bushfire angle?

The ad makes us look like simpletons anyway.

The ad is fine but the bushfires are going to severly dent inbound tourism. If they happen again next year they will also dent inbound property investment.

Travel advice internationally not to visit Australia.....wonder why?

Thought the ad wouldve been pulled 'out of respect' for ALL Australians. awful

slackbastard appropriate song.

Is this what society is nowadays? Just looking for anything to bitch about?

We need holiday makers to return to these areas once this is over so no better time to run the ad.

Lmao

Ugly advert

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. The ad is fine.
