Shadow Minister for Housing Jason Clare says Daniel Andrews' state government “is taking the right action” to protect Victorians against COVID-19. Last week Premier Daniel Andrews reimposed restrictions on Victorians after the state confirmed a two-month high of cases. Public gatherings - excluding restaurants and cafes - will be restricted to 10 people and will remain in place until July 12, pending a review.

Plans to increase the number of patrons from 20 to 50 at pubs, restaurants and cafes will also be deferred to the July 12 date. Victorian health authorities have advised against travel to and from six local government areas for non-essential reasons including Hume, Casey, Cardinia, Moreland, Brimbank and Darebin. “There is a risk of a second wave, the virus can spread very quickly unless we take action where we find it to stamp it out,” Mr Clare told Sky News.
