Last year, international travel dropped by 73.9%

The unthinkable became reality in 2020. Billions of people around the world were ordered to stay at home – or face arrest. Basic human rights, such as the freedom to protest, were cast aside. Hugs became acts of sedition. And – almost as implausibly – beaches became no-go zones, the skies were emptied of planes, and cities such as Venice and Dubrovnik turned into ghost towns. Tourism, for the best part of a year, was vanquished.
