Her brother David Hammon will reduce his staff numbers at Sydney Harbour Bridge climb, also run by the family’s business, from 250 to 170.
A survey of NSW tourism businesses by the NSW Tourism Industry Council found 42 per cent expect to reduce staff numbers when JobKeeper is withdrawn while 53 per cent will reduce staff hours. Around one in ten of the tourism firms surveyed said they expected to shut down altogether once the wage subsidy scheme ends and a further 20 per cent may close temporarily.
Labor Party analysis of the latest available Treasury data showed the inner-city seat of Sydney had the most employees receiving JobKeeper among NSW electorates followed by the western Sydney seat of Watson and North Sydney . University of Melbourne economist Jeff Borland estimates that between 100,000 to 200,000 jobs will be lost around the country when JobKeeper ends. However, this would be partially offset by employment growth of 50,000 to 60,000.
