from flying into Australia due to a heightened risk of COVID-19 is a "temporary measure" after severe backlash.if they breach the travel regulations as the ban comes into effect today.

"About 15 per cent of our Howard Springs facility now has COVID in it, and nearly all of that has been from returning Indians in recent weeks."country recording 392,488 new infectionsMedical experts had advised Australia's quarantine system should only have a maximum capacity of two per cent of people with COVID-19, Mr Tudge said.

"We have been charting that very carefully and there has been a couple of times where that has increased above the two per cent and we have needed to take action.""We have to remember that our primary aim has to keep Australia safe at this point, and that was the information we were given on public health grounds."Professor Kelly said he understood the difficulties being faced by Indian-Australians due to being locked out of the country.

"I would just like to apologise to Indian-Australians this morning that those of us who have a voice in this were not able to stop that particular decision around the jailing.Australian-Indian woman Kim, who travelled to Mumbai to be with her dying father in January, was due to fly back to Perth next week but remains stranded in the country.

"If our system is overworked it is not fit for purpose because if you can't run a system where less than two per cent of your people have COVID and still keep COVID out of community, it is not quarantine," he said.

What about the people who live here, did they ever give any thought about us before they got on a plane. Look around and you see the carnage its causing around the world. Now flights gave been suspended we are racist because they can't get their own way.

Covid out off control in India and the rest of the world yet the dirty fucking Chinks who caused this catastrophe are still throwing their weight around a the world seems ok with both.

My mother could go her brothers funeral yet people are going overseas for funerals and holidays Now that the shit has hit the fan because of poor heath funding and religious gatherings we are racist because they can't come back. If you left Aus in a pandemic that's your problem.

9NewsPerth Well nothing to defend it’s not a thoughtful decision and any means to defend is waste of time focus in correcting it and not hurting Australian no matter what country they are stuck in...WakeupPm

9NewsSyd Well, they can’t have their cake and eat it too. So lock them out, no sympathy here especially to those highly paid cricketers 🏏, it’s only for 2 weeks anyway then it’ll be reviewed after that and most probably lifted assuming it didn’t become worse than what it is now.

Over the next year, Dr Miller plans to assist the WA Government prepare for and manage any potential COVID-19 outbreaks AMA WA press release June 2020, I do not consider his criticisms on hotel quarantine or other statements assisting in the management of WAs current situation.

Andrew Miller has been critical of every action by the federal and WA state governments since March 2020. He likes the sound of his own voice.

Mr Andrew, we love our people and want to be with them. Its not the time to play any cards. Its our precious lifes and we have seen whats happening in India. Once situation settled and Aust ppl vacinated. Than happy to think if it.

It's only for 15 days get over yourselves

Stuff 'em. The can stay where they are! We've all known about a global pandemic for over a damn year. That's the risk they took. NO SYMPATHY!

This is coming from a militaristic mindset.... Area too hot... unable to extract... I repeat... Area too hot... unable to extract

9NewsSyd I don’t know what the answer is but for the people who left last year they should be given priority to come home ASAP. For anyone who went this year I’m sure they would have been aware of the risk of leaving Australia. India has never really been on top of this virus sadly.

9NewsMelb Rules are for all of us ,Our family couldent visit their dying parents they died alone .

9NewsSyd So well said! We are a multi cultural country and there is a huge population who are immigrants. All of whom have called Australia their home for years now. Rules need to be set and followed but I reckon need to be considerate for citizens too.

9NewsPerth Its temporary. Get over it .

9NewsPerth Miller is seriously critical of Everything the Gov tries but has nothing to offer Typical

What is this prick doing to help, this type of grand standing is cheap and divisive. Dr do little if you don't have any thing constructive to say nothing!

9NewsGoldCoast If you are an Australian with genuine reason to be in India and want to come home. You go into hotel quarantine like everyone else. If our quarantine system isn’t good enough that falls to our Federal Govt. To lock out Aussies is not ok.

9NewsPerth AMA Miller is saying some silly things of late. It IS a dark period in our history. A global pandemic. Hence the ban. auspol

Dr Miller is not in charge of keeping the citizens of Australia safe, so of course he can stand on the sideline and sling mud.

9NewsMelb The difference between Indiana's current outbreak and USA and UK is Indiana's health care system can't cope. Hence why we locked them out. Sad though
