Two people have died at popular NSW beaches within hours of each other on Monday. 7NEWS

A woman was pulled unconscious from the water at Gordons Bay in Clovelly at around 1.40pm.Watch the latest news and stream for free onHours earlier, at about 10am, a surfer was pulled unconscious from the water at Caves Beach, Jervis Bay.Credit:Other surfers and swimmers managed to bring the surfer, a 62-year-old man, to the shore before paramedics performed CPR.Reports for the two deaths will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.

Gordons Bay is not patrolled by surf lifesavers but is listed among the least hazardous beaches in Sydney on the BeachSafe website.It has been a deadly start to the new year as people beat the heat, with two men drowning while saving their teenage children from rips. At least 30 people have drowned across the country this summer, according to Royal Life Saving Australia’s national drowning toll.- With AAP
