Members of the federal transport committee voted in favour of a motion to study the widespread disruptions that affected thousands of people who travelled by air and rail in recent weeks.
Representatives from Air Canada and WestJet are among the witnesses MPs want to hear from, along with leaders from Via Rail and the vacation airline Sunwing. Hundreds of travellers found themselves stranded in Mexico after Sunwing cancelled flights because of poor weather conditions, while passengers were stuck on a train between Ottawa and Toronto for upward of 20 hours.
During today's meeting to discuss the scope of the study, MPs also added affected travellers and air passenger advocates to the list of those they want to hear from. Transport Minister Omar Alghabra plans to attend a future meeting as well, after calls from Conservative and New Democrat MPs who say he must answer for how his Liberal government responded to the widespread disruptions.
Good but first they’ll listen to CEO’s of airlines promise to do better same as before. They know exactly what the problems are yet refuse to fix them. Are that incompetent that they didn’t watch the disaster unfold and not see what was needed to fix it. Why did we elect them
No they don’t. Your a pathetic propaganda news station. You and those like you are the virus that Canadians need to exterminate. Learn the meaning of journalism integrity. When you show your practicing that, maybe I’ll turn CP24 back on.
Where was this guy with all the delays at the airport in the summer? Oh yeah, now he can shift the attention to Sunwing.
Says 'Trudeau put popularity contest over fiscal prudence.
invest in transit and high speed rail at least around the golden horseshoe
Resign you traitor
Time to do a 10 year study with no improvements.
Yes please…we would like to ignore you again.
For what, is something going to change
Here's an actual photo of them working on the problem.
What a 🤡. Just read the news
Who gave the goblin a microphone?
Smart. Wait until crisis is over to show “concern”.
So they can double down next year?
Pretty sure the passengers have been loud and clear. No need to study fix the problem now. Airlines unable to provide proper services or compensate properly. So fine the ones that fail maximum penalty each offence let foreign competitors in. Don’t discuss just do
I’ll get back to them when I am able to get home
Does this government official instill confidence in you?
This clown needs to resign.. or better …. So sick of his antics and non sense
What they wanna hear except people want to be compensated for their inconvenience
So OmarAlghabra could have more meetings and continue express disappointment without any true action. Typical politics and actions of the JustinTrudeau party.
Another clown in the circus tent
Unfortunately passengers' views will likely be ignored just as the residents' views were ignored when the Committee conducted a study on the impacts of airport noise in the vicinity of major Canadian airports in 2019.
They called you were busy doing nothing and missed them
Maybe all this chaos is what the JT and the Liberal party want. They say you can travel but the government purposely creates chao with the computer systems so planes stay landed. I heard it was the pilots or no personal I heard it was computer problems that caused as this mess.
did he work at Wonka chocolate factory before coming to Ottawa
You just had to watch the 6 olclock news everyday for the past month. 🤡
I don't have a dog in this fight, but if I did - I'd be asking Omar why he thought bringing hate on the unvaxxed and then drip foam from the mouth was a good idea.
I was one of them, never fly Sunwing again, even if they gave me the trip to anywhere for free, go pound salt
OmarAlghabra hear from me , step down 🤡
Okay then. dear OmarAlghabra, As someone who travels for a living, our airports (especially TorontoPearson), our airlines, and especially you and your govt, are a complete & total 👇
So, everybody who flew to or from Pearson?
