Near misses and illegal turns have led to close calls for many of them.
"We can't ask drivers to pay attention at this point. It's like asking them not to speed or run red lights. Everyone in the city knows that is a consistent problem right now. What we need is the infrastructure that stops it in the first place," Jarron Burdine with Indy Bike Lane Defense said. Another issue WRTV caught on camera was cars turning during a red light when it was time for bikes to cross.Indy Bike Lane Defense has placed bollards in the roadway at that intersection to try and prevent dangerous situations from happening."I think everybody just needs to get more used to it," Wade said."You can still drive, and we can still bike. We can live in harmony here, we just need a little push in the right direction," Burdine said.
Those bike lanes are dangerous for bike riders and vehicle traffic.
Maybe dont ride in the middle of the road in a 40+mph zone. ❤️Hamilton County Reisdents
Put a real cyclist in charge of making bike lanes and trails.
IndyBikeLanes Nice work!
Starr making them register those bikes and pay a road tax. Bike paths parallel many roads, yet they choose to obstruct traffic. Stop wasting money on them and get them off the main roads.
Buy those bikes now. Turning over half a major highway like US40 to bikes must mean the standard of living is expected to drop. The old street car train, Indy to Greenfield, would be cool if it was safe to ride.
Drivers hate us but when trails are purposed and funded they complain about taxes and paying for it as a tax payer.
