The Old Town exhibit and First Peoples Gallery on the museum’s third floor were closed Dec. 31, 2021 for “decolonization” of the galleries. When the exhibit reopens, some familiar third-floor exhibits will not be there, including the HMS Discovery ship recreation, fish cannery, gold mine and farm. Also closed is the First Peoples Gallery, which is being used for engagement sessions with Indigenous communities.
