NAIL POND, P.E.I. — As a child, Henry Gallant remembers staring at the map of Canada that hung in the classroom at the small Tignish country school he attended.In 1967, when Gallant was 24 years old, he started his journey to walk across Canada from Beacon Hill Park, B.C., on Feb. 6. The ambitious excursion was part of a nationwide effort to commemorate and celebrate Canada's centennial.Two years later, on Jan. 17, 1969, Gallant started another journey to walk across Europe.
