After-hours programming at the Melbourne Museum and the Melbourne Planetarium at Scienceworks is lighting up the night

Everyone knows that the world only reveals its deeper magic and glamour once the children have gone to bed. Step out into the night and the familiar becomes mysterious as the spell of adventure and romance is cast.

Access to this world of lost decadence is included in your pass to Nocturnal. You can also explore the landscapes of the Cretaceous period, the stories, art and performances of First Nations communities at the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre, and listen to expert talks on bygone days. Planetarium Nights offer guided tours through the night sky and films specially created for the fulldome screen. In April, the 7.30pm session features the show Big Astronomy, in which you’ll learn about the remote observatories in Chile where astronomers peer into the farthest reaches of the universe. The session also includes What’s in the Sky Tonight, a guided tour of Melbourne’s sky as it appears that night in all its astonishing variation.
