SINGAPORE: TikTok’s algorithm steers Eva Daneesyah to food recommendations, travel vlogs and the occasional stand-up comedy clip. So a May 2023 job advertisement by an ice-cream shop stood out to the 23-year-old Singaporean.

In a statement on Tuesday , Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said that the first case involved the death of a 17-year-old boy after his mother brought back food from the school on June 8.

"Her father, who works as a security guard at the school, brought food back on the same day and gave it to the child. On June 10, the victim's mother observed that she had developed a fever, was vomiting, and was also suffering from diarrhoea.
