South Australia Premier Steven Marshall is refusing to bow to pressure to reopen the state’s border saying it is likely to happen “sometime this year”.

The border had been expected to reopen in July but that could be pushed back if other states continue to record new cases of COVID-19. He is not the only premier holding firm despite advice to reopen borders from federal Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham, with Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein insisting it will not occur by July.
