The Morrison government has called for states and territories to reopen borders to tourists sooner than planned to help the devastated tourism sector.

Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham has urged state and territory governments to open borders to domestic holiday-makers when safe.

Tourism has been one of the hardest-hit sectors as governments acted to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus. Senator Birmingham said while health was the priority, it was important to get the economy moving again.People in Australia must stay at least 1.5 metres away from others. Check your state’s restrictions on gathering limits.

Wow! ScottMorrison, you finally realized all this on your own? What took you so long to figure it out? You shut Australians out ouf our own country, you made it impossible for me to attend my father's funeral. Riots, demonstrations, this is on you!!!

Bunnings is doing a ripping trade is there any common sense left in this country

No thanks

PM is in panic mode...not good State Premiers in their action saved him.. Let the States protect their own people. They are doing a great job...

Let’s first have a couple of months of people move freely within their states without large outbreaks, September sounds about right for interstate and NZ travel

I suspect some states and territories are more ready than others.....

Typical.. Tourism dollars more important than Australian lives.. ‘Ruby Princess ‘ anyone

Go away Morriscum. The states saved our backsides. You were always on the back foot. Remember that. When you wanted to go to the footy. ScottMorrisonMP

simple solution. you can cross the state border but when you return must go through 14 days isolation at the designated hotel under supervision at their cost. 🤔

Mini Trump is hard at work.

The Morrison government can’t have it both ways. You can’t announce it’s up to states to implement easing of restrictions and then whinge from the sidelines if they don’t do it at the pace you like. Who didn’t see this coming? Morrison and co cannot help but play politics.

No way I’m going interstate for tourism purposes .. bugger that. Show me the exact detailed plans for a safe workable attractive tourism model .. “We need people moving” is not a plan or a model. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.

The states and territories will decide for themselves when they think it’s prudent to reopen.

Yeah right, while '42 cases remain untraceable' in Queensland.

In other words, 'We need people moving to spread the virus - Trump isn't happy he won't be able to sell HIS drug here.' - ScottMorrisonMP
