Assistant Multicultural Affairs Minister Jason Wood has declared most Australians support the federal government's controversial India travel ban, as lawyers prepare to challenge its legality in court.
The Liberal MP said he had been in contact with India community leaders who understood the government's reasons for the ban. Federation of Ethnic Communities of Australia CEO Mohammad Al-Khafaji said the travel ban had left members of the community "distressed".
No one said anything when planes from China and US were banned. Why special treatment to India?

I don't get it. although not banned there are lots of Aussies overseas countries dying to return, not just in India. Sure it's rather inconvenient for not be able to return for next two weeks but then there are people who haven't and cannot return for two months or more. So? 🤔
As sad at it is anyone who experienced 3 months lockdown in VIC will appreciate why. There Are also the high number of fake Covid PCR tests found coning from India this makes it a huge risk. Aus govt should use own contractors to conduct PCR test for India departures.
Someone should challenge the legality religious mass gatherings that caused this in India.

Yes, there should be better quarantine facilities. No, people should not have been granted exemptions to attend weddings and funerals. Yes, it’s generally wrong to block citizens from returning home. But the immediate threat is the surge in Covid cases and variants.
By the time this gets to court and a ruling is made. The government would have lifted the ban. I would like to see the whole travel ban challenged. It wont stand up
